That’s So 90s

Posted Tue 12 September 2017 | Big Chill

We love all things 90s so much so at Big Chill that at the end of this month we are dedicating a whole night to the girl band that helped shape the decade – the Spice Girls.

In celebration we are taking a look back at some of the reasons why the 90s was the greatest decade!

FASHION: Some would argue that the 90s was the most unfashionable decade, but we massively disagree! Big and baggy clothing, such as flannel shirts and dungarees teamed with a platform trainer – what was there not to love about this ‘casual nonchalance’ style?

MUSIC: We grunged, raved, rapped, hip-hopped and popped through the decade thanks to artists such as Lauryn Hill, No Doubt, boybands and the Spice Girls, no matter what the genre of music was – it was just great!

DANCE MOVES: With great music come great dance moves, who can forget the electric slide, the Macarena, or even the Cotton Eyed Joe jig, each dance a gift that keeps on giving.

NICKELODEON: Who remembers kicking back on the sofa and laughing out loud to shows such as Sister Sister, Saved by the Bell, Sabrina The Teenage Witch and Kenan & Kel?

GOOSEBUMPS: The greatest books, because what was better than scaring yourself silly whilst lying in bed!?!

LIGHT UP YOYOS: We think this is pretty self-explanatory!

BLOCKBUSTER: Pre-Netflix and Chill – the highlight of the weekend was venturing to Blockbuster on a Friday night, wandering up and down the aisles browsing through the hundreds of available films.

If this trip down memory lane has triggered the inner 90s kid in you come on through to Big Chill House on Saturday 30th September, dress-up in your finest 90s gear – Spice Girl inspired outfits are highly recommended – and dance to the biggest hits of the decade. Tickets are on sale now !
