Captain Kris Street Art Takeover

Posted Thu 10 August 2017 | Big Chill

East London Is the epicentre for street art and we feel very lucky to have have Big Chill Bar, Brick Lane, in the heart of the scene. We are inspired daily by the many pièces de résistance around us, so when we decided that the venue could do with a bit of brightening up, it seemed only natural to take inspiration from our surroundings and bring a bit of outside street art inside. To make this happen, there was only one man for the job – the amazingly talented Captain Kris.

Big Chill Bar’s relationship with Captain Kris goes way back – December 2013 to be exact. Kris popped into the Bar and expressed interest in taking over one of our external walls. Being big fans of his work, we jumped at the chance and he came up with an adroit and characteristic creation.

Big Chill Bar’s dance floor is the party hub of the venue. Every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, our awesome resident DJs take to the decks, spinning the best sounds in town and you Big Chillers flood the floor, bringing your best moves with you. We tasked Captain Kris to take over this area and create a piece of art inspired by our love of music, people and good times.

Kris donned his overalls and armed with spray cans, worked back-to-back across two nights, whilst customers looked on in awe as they watched the magic unfold. The end result, another hyper-creative piece by the master of street art.

A ‘BIG’ thank you to Captain Kris for rising to the challenge, for more of his awesome work check out his Instagram page @CaptainKris, and a ‘BIG’ shout out to Red Bull and Creative Debuts for bringing the collaboration together.

Next time you are in Brick Lane, swing by and check out the master piece for yourself, we hope you like it as much as we do!
