Whilst Adele was busy cleaning up at the Grammys and Rag and Bone Man was picking up his gong for breakthrough act at the BRITS, Big Chill Bar scooped two trophies at this year’s‘Tower Hamlets Council’s Best Bar None Awards.’

For those not in the know The Best Bar None Awards, recognises everyone from high street chains to hidden gems who provide an outstanding customer service, as well as being good and responsible neighbours to their community.

The team ventured across the water to the four-star Radison Blu for the ceremony which took place on Wednesday 8 March. Our first win of the night was for ‘Best of Brick Lane’ and a big shout out to Truman Brewery’s Steve Paton for presenting us with our award.

The ceremony was interspersed with an epic pub quiz curated and hosted by the wonderful Vincent Fajilagmago, who also heads up the Best Bar None scheme – a man of many talents. We named ourselves ‘Team Sweets,’ as we were making our way through numerous bowls of jelly beans throughout the night. After the winners of the quiz were announced (unfortunately this was not us) it was time for the big announcement – the winners of the Best Bar 2017 who was … you guessed it … us! Chuffed beyond belief the full team proudly made their way to the front to collect the giant gold trophy.

The rest of the night was spent celebrating Big Chill style with bubbles and tequila. At the Bar we live by the moto ‘We bring the noise to Brick Lane’s neighbourhood,’ so being recognised for our community efforts felt extra special.

A big thank you to Aneesa who managed our entry, along with the rest of the team who help to make Big Chill Bar great! So next time you are in East London swing by to check out our shiny trophies and be assured that you are in the safest of hands and guaranteed the best of nights.
