Posted Thu 21 July 2016 | Big Chill

In celebration of the sun finally coming out to play, for this month’s classic cocktail ‘How To’ we are going to teach you how to make the perfect Spritz.

The Spritz is a wine-based cocktail, made up of Prosecco, a bitter liqueur and soda, our liqueur choice for this cocktail tutorial is Aperol.

For those of you new to Aperol Spritz, it is the most widespread and commonly drunk aperitif in Italy and since the craze has hit the UK us Brits cannot get enough of the stuff.

It is a refreshing cocktail, with a fabulous fluorescent orange glow and a light bitter-sweet citrus flavour. The unusual taste has not changed since it was first bottled, rumour has it that there are only three people in the world that have access to the secret recipe which includes up to 60 different herbs, roots and fruits. It is the ideal cocktail to share with friends during those long summer sessions.

So enough talking, it’s time to get making – we are going to show you just how easy it is to make this feel good cocktail at home.

– Aperol

Start by filling your glass with 50ml of Aperol. Next add a handful of ice cubes, followed by a splash of soda then top up with Prosecco. To finish give the liquid a quick stir and garnish with a juicy orange slice.
