This month we caught up with Big Chill Bar’s Matilde Corno. She gave us the low down on her favourite BC cocktail, being clumsy and what makes the bar so special.
BC: So Matilde lets kick off with what is your favourite Big Chill cocktail?
MC: I’m a big fan of rum cocktails so I would have to say our Wray Tings although I also love a cascabel coffee tequila it really helps to get a Saturday night party started!
BC: How do you think your co-workers would describe you?
MC: They often tell me that I am reliable, passionate, and entrepreneurial – which is really nice
BC: Is this how you would describe yourself too?
MC: No I would call myself airy [laughs] I would say that I’m approachable and friendly too though.
BC: What is the best thing about working at Big Chill Bar?
MC: Our customers, the bar attracts such a great mix of people. It makes my day when a friendly customer pulls up a stool at the bar to chat to you too – it can turn a long and hard shift into a fun and memorable one.
BC: If you could have one superpower what would it be?
MC: I think it would be great to be able to teleport yourself out of London. I could go anywhere in the world, meet new people and try new things – that would be really cool and I would definitely never be bored!
BC: So the all important Big Chill question, can you hula hoop?
MC: I am the clumsiest person you’ll ever meet, I have no coordination so sadly the answer to that is no.
BC: And finally what do you think makes Big Chill Bar so unique?
MC: Apart from the amazing friendly staff, I love that Big Chill Bar can be whatever you want it to be. People visit us during the day to chill over a coffee and grilled cheese then by night they can switch it up to a cocktail and dance the night away to our DJs. I also think our terrace is pretty special too – it’s rare to find a London bar with outdoor space, especially one that is as colourful and fun as ours.
If you fancy a trip to Brick Lane for a Wray Tings cocktail with Matilde and the rest of the Big Chill Bar team get in touch today to make a reservation.
