Posted Thu 17 March 2016 | Big Chill

We love a classic cocktail! We love making them and drinking them and we want to show you just how easy it is to set up your own London bar at home and how to replicate some of the tastiest cocktails around.

Big Chill’s cocktail curator Gemma will be hosting a ‘Classic Cocktail’ series, each month she will be showing you how to impress your friends by teaching you the tricks behind your favourite tipples. Our focus is on booze and our main aim is to make sure you guys have fun! Now who’s ready for a drink?

We are kicking off the series with a real crowd pleaser – The Mojito. The exact origin of the mojito maybe up for debate but what isn’t, is just how popular this classic cocktail is and with only 5 ingredients it is a no brainer as the go to cocktail when you invite your friends round.

CLASSIC  COCKTAIL: THE MOJITO

The Ingredients …

  • Rum of your choice
  • Lime juice
  • Sugar syrup
  • Fresh mint
  • Ice (crushed if you can)

The Directions …

First add a shot of lime to your glass. Second add half a shot of sugar syrup, this is followed by your mint and a good glug of rum. Give the whole thing a churn and to finish, top up with ice. Then if you are feeling really fancy and want to impress, clap a sprig of mint and garnish.

Now you are ready to become mojito masters. Once you have nailed the classic cocktail try adding your favourite fruit into the mix to spice things up or swing by Big Chill Bar and Big Chill House and try our Cherry Mojito special.

Next month we will be teaching you how to make a Long Island Iced Tea cocktail so start digging out your favourite spirits in preparation.
